Best vegan food I've ever had! So flavorful and the tofu was completely unlike anything I've had before!
My friend sent me this restaurant from a Reel on instagram when she was coming to visit NYC so naturally I didn't have high hopes for it but I made a reservation anyway. I was completely wrong in my assumption. Many people balk at the idea of a vegan restaurant, I balked at the idea of an instagram restaurant. Two of our friends was a little late and they wouldn't seat us until the whole party was there. One ended up being way later than expected though so they allowed the three of us to sit down and get started without him. The decor is pretty and makes you feel comfortable. I started with an Ube Mule which was absolutely delicious. I would order the Stir-Fry Chili Glass Noodles with Vegan Beef, Scallion Pancakes, Wontons in Chili Oil again in a heart beat but I must say the star of the show was the STRING BEANS. So much flavor. We also ordered the vegetable lo main and vegan duck wrap, however I'd probably skip those next time. They were good but everything else we ordered was better. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will be bringing people back.
Great food especially because it is all vegetarian the Dandan noodles with the best noodles I've had over here in a while. We also got the cumin tofu and the baos. Really nice food and would definitely recommend.
I went to Spicy Moon with my best friend and the food was good. Beautiful decor. My favorite things were the chopped cheese spring rolls and the chicken and broccoli. I do however feel the portion size compared to the price for the chicken and broccoli was a bit much. And the rice given wasn't enough at all. I'll return if I'm in the area.
Was hesitant because this place is Vegan and my experience with vegan food is that it just doesn't hit right. I think it's a great idea to turn a szechuan restaurant vegan though because it's not hard to do. Also hear that this place is one of those vegan spots that anyone would love eating at and boy were they right. CHILI WONTON - perfect texture to the dumpling skin I must say, with of course that classic szechuan chili coming through. KUNG PAO TOFU - great texture on these tofu bites, and I happen to be a fan of tofu but I don't think it necessarily tasted too much like tofu. Strong szechuan flavors coming through here too, and authentic sauce flavor too. DRY PEPPER ** - this was one of our faves. I think also tofu? but had this nice crumbly texture to it. Really recommend getting this. MAPO TOFU** - also recommend getting the mapo tofu, was worried this wouldn't come out right but the texture was perfect, the sauce was HITTIN, and stands out as a pretty damn good mapo tofu, even wthout the crumbly pork. DAN DAN NOODLES ** - really great texture on these. Perfect asian al dente. A must when eating szechuan food. Drinks were solid!
Spicy moon was a fun time for sure. The restaurant is a bit small but very lively. My group sat at the round table with the lazy Susan, which we thought was fun to eat family style. The service was great. They seated us fast, and our food came out just as fast as we ordered it. I enjoyed all the dishes, but I especially liked the Dan Dan noodles, the steamed dumplings, and kung pao style entree. If you're a vegetarian, this is a great spot!
Incredible food! Loved it. They do such a good job especially with the spice! Nice little cozy place with some outdoor seating. The service can be better, it seems to be quite busy and so you will need to keep repeating. The chilly dumplings are a bomb! Salt and pepper -- so good! Mushrooms, everything is really tasty. I'm coming back on my next visit.
As a vegetarian I'm always on the lookout for good vegetarian food and this place was awesome! Everything was super tasty, I especially loved the Dan Dan Noodles. Service was fast and responsive and the inside had small tables but the atmosphere was very welcoming. Definitely a place I would go back to.
Tried this place for the first time and it was so great! My sister has been hyping this place up and I understand why. Loved the decor and the cozy vibes. The service was so quick. The menu was very substantial and everything was good. My favorite thing had to be the kung pao tofu. It was so good and I hate tofu so if someone can make it taste good, that's a flex. I also loved the cucumbers, Dan Dan noodles, and vegetable wontons in chili oil. I would personally skip the cold sesame noodles next time because they're pretty flavorless. Literally went back to spicy moon in the Bowery in the same week because it was so good.
